Xal-Ease™

Xal-Ease is an easy-to-use applicator that helps you put drops of XALATAN in your eyes. It was made to help you open your bottle more easily and get the drop of XALATAN where it belongs.

How to use Xal-Ease

1.
Discard the clear overcap from your XALATAN bottle and place the bottle into the opening in the back of Xal-Ease.
2.
Once you are sure the bottle is fully inserted, turn Xal-Ease so the turquoise cap on the bottle is facing you.
3.
Remove the cap from the bottle of XALATAN by unscrewing it with either the bottle cap opener or your fingers.
4.
Tilt your head back and place the forefinger of your free hand at the top of your cheek. Pull your lower eyelid down slightly. Use your other hand to place the eyecup over the eye area.
5.
Look upward and press the button until one drop is released and enters the eye. Remove your finger from the button promptly to avoid the release of additional drops.
6.
Replace the cap using either the bottle cap opener or your fingers. If the bottle is empty, remove it by pushing the cap end of the bottle with your thumb or finger so the bottle comes out through the opening in the back of the aid.

Indication

XALATAN is for the treatment of high eye pressure/intraocular pressure (IOP) in people with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

Important Safety Information

Like all medicines, XALATAN can have side effects. These side effects are usually mild and tolerable and may include blurred vision, burning and stinging, eye redness, the feeling of something in the eye, eye itching, increased pigmentation (darkening) of eye color, or irritation of the clear front surface of the eye.

XALATAN may slowly cause darkening of the eye color due to increased brown color, darkening of the eyelid and eyelashes, and increased growth and thickness of eyelashes. Color changes can increase as long as XALATAN is administered and eye color changes are likely to be permanent.

The recommended dosage is one drop (1.5 µg) in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. If one dose is missed, treatment should continue with the next dose as normal.

There have been reports of bacterial keratitis associated with the use of multiple-dose containers of topical ophthalmic products.
